Hey Everybody, here is the Notice Of Race for the upcoming North Americans at Pigeon Lake Yacht Club. Rules are below, and registration information and housing info can be found in the Regatta Schedule tab above.


NOTICE OF RACE

1. RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2009 – 2012 Racing Rules of Sailing. 1.2 Racing rule A4.1 will be changed as follows: A boat starting later than four (4) minutes after her starting signal will be scored Did Not Start. Racing rule 33 will be changed as follows: During the race, “gate” marks may be repositioned without signal for minor changes in course. Racing rules 35 and A4.1 will be changed as follows: Boats failing to finish within thirty (30) minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes will be scored Did Not Finish. Racing rule 44.3(c) is further modified to calculate any applicable scoring penalty based upon the number of boats starting the applicable race.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 2.1 The regatta is open to all “M-16” class boats. 2.2 Eligible boats may enter in advance by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee to; Pigeon Lake Yacht Club, Box 622, Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Canada K0M 1A0 .

3. FEES Regatta fee: $140.00 per boat (includes 2 lunches and Saturday night dinner for skipper & crew as well as 2 regatta shirts per boat).

4. SCHEDULE Skippers meeting 9:00 a.m. Saturday July 30th. Races 1 & 2 beginning 10:00a.m. Lunch on shore. Races 3, 4 & 5 beginning 1:30p.m. Skippers meeting 9:00a.m. Sunday July 31st. Races 6 & 7 beginning 10:00a.m. (No race will start later than 12:00 noon on Sunday).

5 .THE COURSES Windward-Leeward Triangle” and “Windward-Leeward” around the buoys courses.

6. PENALTY SYSTEM The Scoring Penalty, RRS 44.1 and RRS 44.2, will apply.7. SCORING 7.1 The Low Point scoring system of RRS Appendix A will apply.

7.2 The number of scheduled races is 7 of which 1 must be completed to constitute the series. 7.3 When fewer than 3 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of all her race scores.

7.4 When 4 to 7 races have been completed, a boat’s score will be the total of all her race scores excluding her worst score. 7.5 Points shall be awarded to a boat and may not be transferred except by specific written permission of the Regatta Committee.

8. RADIO COMMUNICATIONS

A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

9. REQUIRED SAFTETY EQUIPMENT

All participants must carry a paddle, bailer, towline of sufficient strength to tow a swamped boat and currently approved PFD’s.

10. AWARDS

Awards will be presented at PLYC following the last race of the regatta.

11. DISCLAIMEROF LIABILITY

Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.

12. INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum coverage of the policy limit of their homeowner’s insurance policy per event or the equivalent thereof.
